Course Description:

This introductory course is designed to provide students with foundational knowledge and practical skills in 12/24 volt electrical systems. Emphasizing safety and precision, the curriculum covers essential theories, tools, and techniques used in diagnosing and repairing electrical components. Through instructor-led lessons and hands-on practice with industry-standard tooling and equipment, students will gain confidence in understanding and applying electrical principles in real-world scenarios.

  • Shop and Electrical Safety: Safety protocols for working in a shop environment and handling electrical systems safely.
  • Electricity Fundamentals: Exploring the basics of electricity, including current, voltage, resistance, and power.
  • Multimeter and Diagnostic Tooling Proficiency: Understanding the breakdown, function, and application of multimeters and other essential electrical tools.
  • Electrical Laws: Applying Kirchhoff’s Voltage and Current Laws, Watts Law, and Ohm’s Law to troubleshoot and analyze electrical circuits.
  • Series and Parallel Circuits: Constructing, analyzing, and repairing series and parallel circuits with practical applications.
  • Battery and Alternator Systems: Examining the structure, function, and maintenance of batteries and alternators in 12/24 volt systems.
